Skittles was the first dumbo rat I ever had, I first seen her at the pet shop, she was hours away from having a litter. The next day I visited, she had her babies, and she was a good mommy. I fell in love with her, she was so sweet, so the shop kept her on hold for me to take home as soon as the babies where weaned.

When I brought her home, her head was tilting a bit, the store said she had a ear effection, but I knew better, I brought her to the vet and she had a spore in her brain that caused the nerves to overreact and tilt her head. After some medication, her head ws fine, but some minor damage was permanent because she became a little wobbly.

Skittled did become a mommy while I had her, she had two babies, Ebony and Ivory, none of them are dumbos though because their father was a regular rat. In the past few months, Skittles was showing her age, but she was still very active and always wanted to come out when I opened the cage. On the 26th of July I went to check on her, and I found her laying on her side. I knew that she was going, so I made her comfortable on my bed. I stayed with her as her breathing became more ragged, I stepped out for a moment, and when I came back, she was gone. Skittles was by far one of my favorite rats, she was sweet, a good mommy, loved attention, and was a lovely color. I will miss you Skittles....
